A mortal huntress kills a wolf in a winter forest and learns it was not a wolf. The debt takes her into Prythian, a world of immortal courts where courtesy is more dangerous than a blade. The series opens as a Beauty and the Beast retelling and stops being one somewhere in the second book: instead of rescue by a prince, it becomes the long and difficult work of getting yourself back.

Who it is for

This is where the fashion for the shadow daddy and for courts with their own politics started. If you want romantasy where the relationship is built on equals rather than on rescue, this is the series to begin with.
